Welcome! I am very excited to begin my first year of teaching with you and your student at Papillion-LaVista High School! I would like to introduce myself with some information about me.
I was born and raised in Canada, moving with my family to Sioux City, Iowa at the age of 7. During my freshman year of high school, my family and I gained dual-citizenship -- we are very proud to be American and Canadian!
After high school, I moved to Omaha for undergrad at Creighton University. I received my BA in English and moved onto receiving my Masters in Dispute Resolution and Negotiation from the Werner Institute. After a year of law school, I realized I was better suited for "the real world", so I moved into my first job for Douglas County. I worked for Conciliation Court and after two years, I realized that there was still more out there for me. I packed up my desk, took a graduate student position on Creighton's campus, and began the Master's of Secondary Education program at Creighton University in 2012.
During the spring semester of 2013, I was very fortunate to student-teach with seniors at Papillion-LaVista High School. I instantly felt at home in this atmosphere and was very lucky to receive a full-time position with this wonderful staff. I am very excited to meet you and your student, learn with them, and teach them all that I know!
A little about me outside of school: I am recently married, as of October 2012, and we just moved into our first home. We are the proud parents of a five-year old son, Hayden, and a seven-year old chocolate lab (dog), named Sophie. I am the middle child of three and a very proud Aunt to a 16-month old nephew. I love to be active, testing my creative abilities, and working with my hands. I also love to sing and have a passion for music, which I hope to bring into the classroom when possible.
I hope to meet all of you within the upcoming weeks!
Have a wonderful day,
Mrs. Megan Albertson
